Royce Cantrell
Verona- Royce Cantrell, age 88, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1936, to Elzie Lee Cantrell and Delma Coats Cantrell.
Royce was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Throughout his life, he worked across North Mississippi repairing mobile homes for Chad Mills and James Sanderson. He was known far and wide for his ability to fix anything, and he took great pride in a job well done left a lasting impression.
At home, Royce found joy in the simple pleasures. He loved spending time in his yard and garden with his beloved wife, Bette, tending to flowers and plants together. A true collector at heart, he delighted in antique stores, yard sales, and building collections of marbles and coins.
Royce shared 39 wonderful years of marriage with Bette Cantrell, who preceded him in death in May of 2022. Their devotion to one another was an example of enduring love and partnership.
He is survived by his children, Patsy Cantrell Hutcheson and her husband, Steve, Randy Cantrell and his wife, Ann; step-children, Staci Bridges and Kirk Howell and his wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Scott, Adam, Kyle, Byron, Keelie, Ryan, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Lincoln, Penelope, Lachlan, Ella, Kallin, and Koy; siblings, Chestine McIntosh, Fray Cantrell, and Denise Rogers; and special friend, Steve Dillard and his wife, Pam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Howell Cantrell; parents, Elzie and Delma Cantrell; brother, Bobby Cantrell; sister, Eva Mae Parker; granddaughter-in-law, Brandy Chance Hutcheson; great-grandson, Elliot Chance Hutcheson; and step-daughter, Shelli Grant.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Lee Memorial Park. Pegues has been entrusted with arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Senior Outpatient Counseling Program at North Mississippi Medical Center Pontotoc.
