Ruben Hernandez Jr was born on December 28, 1954, in Seagraves, Texas and passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, in Amherst, Texas. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Tony Hernandez, Margaret Talamantez, Diane Parsons, Librada Lara and Vanessa Martinez and his parents, Eugenia and Ruben Hernandez. He is survived by his siblings Joe Hernandez of Littlefield, Tx, Abel Hernandez of Amherst, Tx, Phillip Hernandez of San Angelo, Tx, Linda Alvarado of Sabinal, Tx, Birginia Porras of Amherst, Tx, and Lucilla Sanchez of Kissimmee, Fl. Ruben was a retired Cowboy/Cattle Doctor for the Sudan Feedyard where he worked for over 30 years. He lived a private life where he enjoyed yardwork, tending to his garden and hanging out with his bingo friends. He was an avid Amherst Bulldog football fan and rarely missed a Friday night game. He was labeled as the favorite uncle by all his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing board games and binge watching his favorite tv shows. Ruben was well loved in the community, to know him was to love him, he will be missed. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home.
