Mr. Rubin Ivey, Sr., born Rubin Britt, was born on June 13, 1947, to the late Darthy Britt and Jessie Lee Ivey in Aubrey, Arkansas. He spent his early years in Aubrey, working on the family farm and learning the values of discipline and hard work. At an early age, he confessed his faith in Christ and began a lifelong journey rooted in faith, family, and perseverance.
As a young man, Rubin's family relocated to Marianna, Arkansas, where he continued his education through his junior year of high school. He began his professional journey with the City of Marianna Water Department, where he was employed for many years throughout the 1970s.
During this time, Rubin met and fell in love with Ms. Fannie M. Lindsey, with whom he shared a devoted and loving partnership. Together, they built a strong foundation centered around faith, hard work, and family.
Rubin's dedication to providing for his loved ones led him to employment with Sanyo Manufacturing Company through the late 1970s. His commitment and strong work ethic soon opened doors for greater opportunities. Seeking to create a better life for his family, Rubin relocated to Forrest City, Arkansas, in the early 1980s. There, he secured a position with the City of Forrest City, serving faithfully at the Sports Complex, now known as the Larry S. Bryant Wellness Center.
Ever eager to advance himself, Rubin attended Walden University, where he earned his high school diploma, a milestone he took great pride in. Known for his reliability and leadership, Rubin served many years as a Supervisor with the City of Forrest City. His work ethic and dependability made him a valued employee and respected colleague. Even after his retirement, Rubin frequently visited the Sports Complex, remaining connected to the people and place that held special meaning in his life.
Rubin was a man of many talents. He loved his family deeply and found joy in the outdoors, especially in fishing-a passion he proudly shared with his sons. Skilled with his hands, he could build, repair, and create with remarkable ease, mastering carpentry, electrical work, and general craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Ms. Fannie M. Lindsey; one brother; three sisters; four sons, Rubin (Kim) Ivey Jr. of Forrest City, AR, Corey (Pam) Ivey of Chesapeake, VA, Dontae Ivey of Dallas, TX, and Orlando Ivey of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Sherice Ivey-Jackson of Dallas, TX, and Latrecia Ivey (Clark) Winfield of Forrest City, AR; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
