Ruby Lucelle Axe

Ruby Lucelle (Amos) Axe, 88, of Hollister, FL passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Palatka Center for Rehabilitation and Healing following a brief illness.
She was born in Hardy, Virginia. Ruby attended a one room elementary school and graduated from Troutville High School. She had lived in Florida for 60+ years coming from Roanoke, VA and traveled to Miami where she met her husband, Harold L. Axe, Sr., and the rest is history! She was of the Baptist faith.
Ruby was a wonderful wife and mother. She relished hosting many fun parties over the years with close friends in Hialeah, FL near Miami. She enjoyed dancing and having a good time with her husband, Harold. She was an avid trail hiker in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia with her family and friends. She loved working in her yard, including a flower garden and planting fresh vegetables for her family to eat!
She never met a stranger and loved talking to people. Her son, Harold Lee, Jr. was her "pride and joy" whom she prayed for to be safe and have a good life. She was also an animal lover and had many dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks over the years.
Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy L. Carlson and Roy H. Carlson of St. Augustine, FL; son, Harold L. Axe, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers and a sister-in-law,, Carlton E. and Judy Amos of Salem, VA and Billy G. Amos of Vinton, VA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie M. Elmore of Moneta, VA and Lillie Rebecca "Becky" Jackson and Henry Jackson of Vinton, VA; one grandson, Christopher R. Carlson; four great grandchildren, Kylie Carlson, Kelsey Carlson, Kai Carlson, and Kalei Carlson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everlena and Clarence Amos; husband, Harold L. Axe, Sr.; sister, Evelyn C. Wertz; brothers, Henry J. Amos and Sherman L. Amos; sisters-in-law, Goldie Amos, Geneva Amos, and Faye Amos; and brother-in-law, Slim Elmore.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Maurice Sterling officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:30 p.m., a half-hour prior to the start of the service.
