Ruby Thelma Bishop, age 85, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on September 10, 1939, in Cogswell, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James Lee and Nora (Circle) Crose.
Ruby dedicated most of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, though she also worked for many years as a waitress at the Daleville 76, where she made many lasting friendships. A naturally artistic soul, Ruby especially loved painting and found great joy in expressing herself through art. She had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed birdwatching, always taking time to notice the beauty in the world around her. Ruby also loved to travel and was happy to go just about anywhere the road would take her.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Westlake; son, Roger Gillespie; grandchildren, Eric (Siobhan) Gillespie and Braden Gillespie, Kasey Hinton and Brock Gillespie; great grandchildren, Arianna, Bentley, Helena and Samantha; sister, Carolyn Minnick and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bishop; siblings, Darlene Shocker, William Crose, Debra Ralph and Paula Crose.
In following Ruby’s wishes, a simple cremation will take place and there will be no public services.
