Ruby Katherine Butler, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 8, 2025. She was born in Shamrock, TX, on August 7, 1944, to Harold Barnett and Emma M. (Newkirk) Barnett. Kathy married the love of her life, Lynch Butler, on October 29, 1982.
Kathy was a sweet, gentle, vibrant, generous, funny, and caring person. She was never one to speak badly about another person, and she had a giving heart. This kindness was a part of who she was, and it also stemmed from her faith and relationship with God. Kathy was an active member in the choir at Harvard Avenue Baptist, now known as Covenant Church, as well as the Bible Study Fellowship. Kathy loved being involved at her church and encouraging others to get involved as well.
Kathy also enjoyed singing, fishing, golfing, cooking, and traveling with her husband, especially to Israel and Africa. Above all, Kathy loved spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Although her time on earth is at an end, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her and love her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Janice Elson Perez and Virginia Lee Summers, and brother, John Hall Barnett.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Lynch Butler; children, Perry Mason (Karen), Penny Renner (Kevin), Brent Butler (Ronda), Laurie Geurin (Paul), and Steve Butler (Stephanie); brothers, David Barnett (Leslie) and Matthew Barnett (Cathy); grandchildren, Kathryn Hackett-Hill (Austin), Blayne Hill (Jacque), Dustin Butler (Hilary), Austin Butler (Mandy), Dillon Butler (Nikki), Avery Miller (Macey), Morgan Miller, Cade Miller (Emma), Amanda Nokes (Spencer), and Miranda Comer (Adam); and great-grandchildren, Rosemary Hackett-Hill, Thomas Eli Hill, Shelby Butler, Jackson Butler, Sadie Butler, Crew Butler, Emmie Butler, Hayden Butler, Trace Butler, Hallie Miller, Mila Nokes, and Sophie Nokes.
A visitation will be held at Covenant Church on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
Honored to be pallbearers are grandsons: Blayne Hill, Dustin Butler, Austin Butler, Dillon Butler, Avery Miller, Cade Miller, Austin Hackett, and Spencer Nokes.
