She was a devoted member of the Kingsley Terrace Church of Christ, actively engaging in the Homeless Ministry and the Women's Monday Night Bible Study, where her compassionate heart touched many lives.
Her career in healthcare was yet another testament to her commitment to serve and uplift others. Ruby did not just work; she inspired, bringing a beautiful smile and an amazing personality that reverberated throughout her days. Ruby was a passionate fan of the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, her spirit soaring with each game, her laughter harmonizing with the cheer of the crowd. College football ignited her enthusiasm, while gospel singing resonated deeply within her soul, filling her life with melody and faith.
Ruby’s family was her treasure—an enduring legacy of love and joy. She leaves behind her children, Donny Buckley and Alycia (Lysa) (James Sr.) Spells, who carry forward her vivacious spirit. Her siblings, Eva Crutchfield and Elna McILwain, stand as a testament to Ruby's unwavering familial bonds, while her sister-in-law, Betty Clifford, reflects the love that lingered in all her relationships. The warmth of her legacy is echoed in the hearts of her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, alongside a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom hold cherished memories of her kindness and joy.
While her loved ones gather to remember her at Kingsley Terrace Church of Christ for visitation on June 20, 2025, Ruby will be celebrated in a funeral service at the same location. Her journey will culminate as she finds her final resting place at Crown Hill Cemetery, where friends and family will lay her to rest on June 20, 2025, embracing the peace that she so richly deserves.
