WEAVERVILLE – Ruby “Margie” Carter, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mission Hospital. She was born on June 14, 1935, in Buncombe County where she lived all her life. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Bonnie Jane Moore Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Carter, Sr., who passed away in 2001; a son, David Ronald Carter; a brother, Hubert Carl Wright and a sister, Mary Wright.
Mrs. Carter was kind and gracious, loved the Lord and would never turn anyone away that was in need. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her church and singing in the choir as well as a quartet. She always loved to travel and just be on the “go”. She was a long-standing member of Long’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Elizabeth Ann Clubb; James Howard Carter, Jr. (Christina), Barbara Elaine Richards (Bill), and Joyce Grace Reece. Ruby had thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Dorothy McHone (William), and a brother, Leroy Wright.
Ruby’s funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverends Ervin Nash and Albert Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:15 pm until 2:15 p.m.
