Ruby Dobias

Ruby Dobias was born August 17, 1934, in Stuart, Nebraska to Herman and Mayme (Juracek) Meyer.

She attended country schools and graduated from Atkinson High School in 1952. After high school, she taught rural district #229 and then went to Wayne State Teachers College to earn her teaching certificate. She then returned to teach at the same school from 1953 to 1954.

Ruby married Raymond Dobias in 1955 in Atkinson, Nebraska. They lived and worked at the McEachen ranch in the Stuart area.

In March of 1959, they moved to Raymond's grandpa Joe Dobias land north of Atkinson. They moved a house from town, dug a basement and started their lives there. This would become their forever home. Raymond passed away on January 22, 2014.

Ruby belonged to several clubs and enjoyed volunteer work. She went caroling with church groups and made balloon animals. She also had a pocket ministry, made from denim jean pockets, and a magnet ministry, which she distributed to armed service members, elderly, shut-ins, or anyone she saw in need.

Ruby is survived by her children Barbara (Myron) Buller, Debra (Chuck) Leininger, and Calvin (Cathy) and Michael (Brenda) all of Atkinson, Marsha Meyer of Omaha, Nancy (Mike) Sich of Omaha, and Becky (Jim) Lindgren of Albion; 24 Grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers Herman (Ruth) Meyer of Olathe, KS and Kenneth (Elly) Meyer of Steamboat Springs, CO; a sister Beverly Ehrenberg of Holdrege, NE; Brothers-in-law Joe (Bonnie) Dobias of Papillion, NE and Jerry (Ann) Dobias of Hollister, MO; Sisters-in-law Bernice Dobias of Creighton, NE and Marjorie Ferris of Norfolk, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers Ivan and Gayle, sister Elaine Nieman, Brothers-in-law Harry Nieman, Keith Ehrenberg, Norbert Dobias, James Dobias Jr., Richard Deermer, and George Ferris, Sisters-in-law Agnes Dobias and Zelma Meyer.
