Ruby Betschler, 99, of Helenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at her home with her family surrounding her.
Ruby was born on April 2, 1926, at home in Concord, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Leonora (Palm) Waldmann. She was baptized on April 25, 1926, at St. Peter's Lutheran in Helenville by Rev. E.C. Frederich. She married Royal Betschler on May 3, 1947, and he passed away on Labor Day, September 3, 2001.
She grew up on a farm and attended Sunshine School and St. Peter's German School graduating and confirmed in 1940. Her confirmation verse was Col. 3:2 "Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth." As a teenager, she worked on the Palm Farm with her grandparents and later at Schweiger Industries of Jefferson. After her marriage, she dairy farmed with her husband, managed the home, gardened and canned, cooked and baked, and milked the cows again. After she retired, Ricky and Chad Spatola continued the farm operation. Ruby was a life-long member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church. She was a 4-H leader for 50 years and a dedicated blood donor. She found joy in her flowers, baking, working jigsaw puzzles, giving hugs to all the family, and visiting with treasured friends. She always had a cookie and coffee for anyone who walked in the door.
She is survived by her children Roger (Laurie) Betschler of Seguin, TX, Ruthy (Ron) Berger of Fitchburg, RaeJean Bueschel of Maitland, FL, son-in-law Gary Leverenz (husband of RoxAnn) of Watertown, and Ricky Betschler of Helenville; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Ruby is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter RoxAnn, and siblings Royal, Lucille, Eunice and Elmer Jr.
A Christian funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the St. Peter's School Gymnasium with Rev. Titus Buelow presiding. Ruby will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral. Friends are invited to visit with the family over dessert, in the gymnasium following the burial.
