Ruby Laverne Fields

Ruby Laverne Fields, age 85, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends.
Ruby was born on March 21, 1937 to Fred Charles Ray and Ruth Tilley Ray in Paris, Texas. After graduating from Burns Flat-Dill City High School in 1956, Ruby worked several jobs including at a local drug store, as a certified nursing assistant, licensed beautician and then later on retired from General Motors after working there for 18 years.
In 1957 she met Leborn Roy Fields in Wichita Falls, Texas and they wed later that year. They went on to have four children, Troy, Dorothy, Brenda and Lynda. In her early marriage, Ruby and Roy traveled to several destinations including Santa Barbara, Denver, Corpus Christi and Pecos, Texas where family lived.
When the children were getting older, Ruby and Roy settled in Midwest City where they raised their children until the mid-1980's when they moved to "the country", in the Harrah-Newalla area. Ruby and Roy moved back to the Midwest City area in 2015 to be closer to family.
Ruby and Roy, also known as Hoke and Laverne, loved to shoot pool and helped to organize and participate in the local pool leagues. They went on to meet many friends and were well known and thought of in the pool shooting leagues. Ruby loved her family and loved cooking big meals for the holidays and hosting reunions and family gatherings. Ruby and Roy often went fishing and camping.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Charles Ray and wife Jan, brother J.R. Ray, daughter Brenda Burton and brother-in-law Terry Boudinot. Ruby is survived by sister Joyce Reimer (Gerald), sister Betty Boudinot, sister Paula Austin (Gene), sister-in-law Barbara Jack, son Troy Fields (Lori), daughter Dorothy Fields, daughter Lynda Joines (Kevin), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Ruby will be greatly missed as the "glue" that bound the family together. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home with interment following at Arlington Memory Gardens.
