Ruby Christine French

Ruby Christine Harmon French, born October 31, 1934, left this life to join her husband, Robert Norman French Sr. (2020), son, Robert Norman French Jr. (2015), parents, and all eleven siblings in Heaven on December 14, 2025. She is survived by daughter Luann Albright (Joel), daughter-in-law Judith Whitmer, former daughter-in law Michelle French, grandchildren Elliott Albright, Sophie Bejarano (Grecco), Josh French, Autumn King (Brandon), Kristen Corral, Whitney Sprayberry, Michael Cruise, and great-grandchildren Kennya Bejarano and Kion Bejarano. Chris had a great many friends, neighbors, and family who will miss her dearly. She grew up in a large family in north Mississippi, where she graduated from college with a teaching degree. After marrying Bob on December 3, 1955, they moved to Sun Valley in Maryland where they raised their family. She received her master's degree from Towson University, taught elementary school for 30 years, most of that time at Riviera Beach Elementary, and was active in many educational organizations. She loved being a grandmom and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren. After retirement, she and Bob traveled the country in their motor home visiting family and national parks, often taking their grandchildren along. They eventually settled in Laurel, Mississippi where their neighbors on Heritage Trail became family over the past 25 years. They were active members of Laurel First Methodist Church. Chris served on numerous church committees and made many friends. She was a member of Gamma Iota Sorority, where she was twice elected Woman of the Year due to her service and dedication. In December 2024, she moved into Assisted Living in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This past spring, after falling and spending time in a transitional care unit, she moved to Assisted Living in Minnesota to be close to Luann and her family. She was very much loved by the staff there and they also had a hard time losing her. Although she struggled physically and mentally after her fall, she always knew her loved ones and remained strong in her faith until she left to join Jesus in Heaven. Dates for Celebrations of Life gatherings to be held in Minnesota and Mississippi will be announced when they are known. In lieu of flowers, Chris requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, whose mission of helping children was always dear to her.
