Ruby Anne Friedrichsen was born on October 8, 1932, the daughter of Ernest and Mildred (Ladehoff) Segebart in Vail, Iowa. She was baptized on March 20, 1947, and confirmed on March 30, 1947, into the Lutheran faith. Ruby received her education from Denison High School and graduated with the class of 1951.

On September 20, 1954, Ruby married Willard Friedrichsen at a Lutheran church near Deloit, and they were blessed with three children: Raymond, Carolyn and Diana. Ruby dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for her family, working tirelessly inside her home to raise her children and preparing warm meals that brought comfort and togetherness. Her kitchen was a place of love, where laughter echoed, and memories were made. Her hands were always busy as she crafted clothing for her children. After her children left home to pursue their own paths, Ruby continued her legacy of love as she took on the cherished role of babysitting her grandchildren. This selfless commitment to family defined her life and left a mark on all who were fortunate enough to be part of her circle.

Ruby was a devoted lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church through her participation in the Zion Ladies Aid, where she contributed her time and talents to support various church initiatives. Ruby also shared her passion for faith with the younger generations, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Also, she served proudly as a Girl Scout Leader. Ruby enjoyed a bit of excitement during her leisure time by visiting the casino. A skilled seamstress, some of her favorite hobbies were cross stitching, ceramics and crafting dolls and their clothes. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially making memories on her swing visiting with her grandchildren.

Ruby passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard Friedrichsen in 2005; siblings: Dorothy Friedrichsen, June Albright, Evelyn Merritt, Ernest Segebart, Jr., Larry Segebart, Carol Meyer and Jim Segebart; and other family and friends. She is survived by her three children: Raymond Friedrichsen of Seal Beach, California, Carolyn (Dwight) Boeck and Diana (Doug) Wiges all of Denison; eight grandchildren: Sarah (Glenn) Carlson of Denison, Jason Boeck of Schleswig, Jeff Bevar (Brooke) of Grand Junction, Christopher (Jen) Boeck of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jennifer Bevar of Council Bluffs, Rachel (Nate) Desy of Denison, Stephanie Friedrichsen of Torrance, California and Hannah Wiges of Denison; 15 great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Cole, Mariah, Kayla, Emma, Leo, Norah, Jackson, Makenna, Luca, Samantha, Bella, Cadence, Gracelynn and Jaxon; two brothers: Charles Segebart of Schleswig and Bill Segebart (Janeen) of Council Bluffs; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Her funeral service will take place on at 10:30 a.m. on her birthday, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Interment will follow in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in her memory.
