Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Ruth Gieger will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, with Reverend Norman Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow in Butter Cemetery, Forest Hill, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Gieger, 84, of Westlake, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Golden Age of Welsh.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved raising chickens, crocheting, sewing, collecting dolls, and tea sets. Ruby enjoyed cooking and having her family together for meals. She was an avid follower of the Lord and enjoyed Christian music and studying her bible. She also liked singing and telling stories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Gieger and Ray Jenkins; two sons, Donald "Chachi" Dofflemyer and Derrik Dofflemyer; her parents, Edwin Elisha Giles and Pearl O'Connor; and one granddaughter, Makagen Grantham.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Danny Dofflemyer of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Dolly Castille of Iowa, and Debbie Doran of Westlake; one brother, Andrew Giles of Jennings; two sisters, Ethel Rocca of Welsh, and Virginia Mayfield of Sulphur; seventeen grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
