Ruby Hess was born November 15th, 1931 to Andrew and Lena Mae Perkins. She grew up with eight brothers and sisters. Ruby attended Burlington High School and then went to college in Ft. Collins where she graduated with her teaching degre She married Alyin Kloeckner and moved to Lamar to start her teaching career. They had four children. After a divorce, Ruby met her husband, Larry Hess in Holly, Colorado and enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Larry and Ruby lived in Lamar, Coolidge, Ainsworth and then most recently in Goodland, Kansas. Ruby had many friends. She never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a beautiful smile. Ruby was a well-spoken, Lutheran all her life. She read her devotional every night. She loved to travel and support her community with arts, crafts, volunteering and always wanted to take part in local events. Ruby worked for two federal judges for several years where she retired at 65. They didn’t believe her when she said she was retiring until her last day when she said it was her last day. They felt she was teasing. Ruby also sold Avon wherever she moved to for 35 years.
Ruby is proceeded in death by her children Chris, Kent and Karyla. Her sisters Pearl, Eunice, and Clarine and brothers Bob, Doyal, Carol, Gene and Norman.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband Larry and daughter Kandace, along with several nieces and nephews. Ruby will be missed by many, but we have warm hearts knowing she is with her family and in the arms of her maker.
