Ruby Hingson, 92, of Altamont, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Montrose City Cemetery in Montrose. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ruby was born on September 3, 1933 at home in Effingham County, IL, south of Dieterich, daughter of Alfred and Zelda (Robrock) Bohnhoff. She married Dale Hingson on March 26, 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2006.

Ruby attended Richardson Grade School and graduated from Effingham High School. Over the years, she worked at the glove factory, helped out on the farm, and then worked at the Fedders Corporation in Effingham until her retirement in 2006. Ruby loved to garden and especially loved growing berries. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and baking. She was especially known for her homemade bread and noodles. She liked to refinish woodworking items and fish from the shore. She also enjoyed raising chickens and delivering eggs to her numerous customers.

Ruby is survived by her children, Rita (Phil) Toops of Effingham, John (Lisa) Hingson of Montrose, Jack (Pam) Hingson of Montrose, Alan (Paula) Hingson of Atwood, and Nita (Dave) Miller of Altamont; 30 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Karon Burroughs and Nancy Hoene; brothers-in-law, Ben Runde and Don Skinner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Hingson; grandchildren, Jeanne and Shannon; brothers, Oren Bohnhoff and Orval Bohnhoff; sisters, Grace Runde, Joan McCoy, and Sharon Skinner; brothers-in-law, Jerry Burroughs, Med McCoy and Gerald Hoene, sister-in-law Delma Bohnhoff.

Memorials may be made FISH or Senior Services of Effingham County. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
