Ruby Hinson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James & Lipford Funeral Home - Graceville on Jan. 16, 2026.
Ruby Hulvey Hinson, 80, of Graceville, passed away, Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Southeast Health Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ruby was born in Long Island, Alabama on April 1, 1945, to the late Edward B. Almon Hulvey and Flora Belle Farmer Hulvey.

Moving to the Wiregrass area, she was a 1963 graduate of Dothan High School. She loved playing softball. In one of her games in 1963, she pitched a no-hitter and led the slugging with a triple, a double and two singles. Even after graduation she went on playing softball until she no longer could. Mrs. Ruby went to work with Warners Corporation in Dothan. Meeting the love of her life, Robert, moving to the Graceville area, Mrs. Ruby then worked with Vanity Fair Mills until their closure, then to Bonifay Shirt Factory and then she retired from West Point Pepperell in Chipley.

Mrs. Ruby loved painting, sewing, quilting, and her many kinds of animals. Although her favorite pastime was her children and grandchildren. On any given day you would see her ushering them to whatever activity they may be involved in, whether it be horse shows, cow shows, band practice, ball practice or games, whatever it maybe she was available. She had the kindest heart and would always go an extra mile for any child who may be in need of food or clothing. With her expert gift of sewing, she would see those special items such as clothes, blankets or even curtains to name a few be made for those who ask or need them. No pattern was required for her sewing projects.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Hinson and one daughter Robyn Hinson Campbell.

She is survived by son, Britt Hinson (Maranda), daughter Renae Reeves (Michael), six grandchildren Mariah, Jaylyn, Brendon, Keiston, Ryland, Makayla, three great grandchildren; brother Edward B. Almon Hulvey, Jr. (Diane), sister Pearl Quattlebaum (Pete), several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Her Life will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2025, at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Padgett officiating. A private burial will be at Damascus Baptist Church, James & Lipford Funeral Home directing.
