Mrs. Ruby Ivy Jenkins Sims was born on June 25, 1934, in Jefferson, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Rosie Jenkins. She was married to the late Billy K. Sims on November 13, 1955. They were the first couple married at Fairview Baptist Church and had 49 ½ years together until his passing on July 13, 2005.

Mrs. Ruby was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church until her health no longer permitted her to attend. The highlight of her service was preparing prisoner packets every Christmas with her sister Johnnie to share the love of Jesus with those who needed it most. Mrs. Ruby was a retired employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing with over 35 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, reading, working word search puzzles, watching the “stories,” and Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma J. Smothers, and Johnnie J. Steen; brothers-in-law, Harold Steen, and Ora Smothers; great grandson, Michael Grooms; great granddaughter, River Sanders; and son-in-law, Cecil Grooms.

She is survived by her children, Linda S. (Randy) Jenkins of Mt. Croghan, SC, Kathy Grooms of Cheraw, SC, and Angela (Junior) Faulkenberry of Ruby, SC. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Richard (Stacy) Jenkins, Brad (Candace) Jenkins, Billy Jenkins, Josh Jenkins, Kristi Grooms, Danielle (Brian) Johnson, Whitney (Alan) Sanders, Samantha (Corbin) Norton, Chase (Caitlin) Faulkenberry, Jason Faulkenberry, and James Faulkenberry. Additionally, she is survived by great-grandchildren Kendal Jenkins, Tyler (Kyla) Jenkins, Elizabeth Hayes, Dalton Jenkins, Luke Sanders, Harper Sanders, Abel Sanders, Kirkleigh Norton, Battle Norton, Luka Faulkenberry, Jonah Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Blake Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Owen Johnson, Ella Kate Johnson, Austin Faulkenberry, Alivia Faulkenberry, Mason Faulkenberry, and great-great-grandchildren Bentley and Everette Jenkins, with another expected addition, Walker Jenkins. She is also remembered by her niece Tammy (Billy) Allen; nephews Tim Steen and Glenn Smothers; as well as her special caregivers and friends Patricia Covington and Linda Owens, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Kyle Oliver and Brent Taylor, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of her sister Mrs. Johnnie Steen to the Purple Crusaders to end Alzheimer’s, P.O. Box 493, Cheraw, SC 29520; or to a charity of one’s choice.
