Ruby Lee Smith Dye, 100, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at her residence.
She was born July 9, 1921, in Cleveland Co., NC, to the late Harvey Smith and Ella Roper Smith.
Ruby formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, NC. She visited Chapel Grove Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. She was an angel to us on earth, and at her passing she gained her wings. Ruby loved her family. She was an elementary school crossing guard for over 40 years including Central School and Sherwood in Gastonia. She was the best cook; her Sunday dinners were legendary. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard M. Dye; son, Michael Dye: granddaughter, Lucy Dye Johnson; four brothers; and one sister.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Richard Monroe Dye, Kenneth A. Dye and wife Cynthia, Gerald Dye, and Gilbert Brazzell and wife Carol; daughter, Teresa Atchison; grandchildren, Daune Galbraith, Rev. Wayne Brazzell, Anna Dye, Jane Taylor, Jared Dye, Dylan Dye, and Danielle Thomas; great grandchildren, Hank Galbraith, Holt Galbraith, Caroline Dye, Claire Dye, Parker Dye, Kinnison Dye, Eli Thomas, Maddie Thomas, Lauren Okruhlica, Kenneth McCorkle, Hazel Taylor, and J.J. Spelock; and great-great granddaughter, Ava.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Wayne Brazzell, will be held 11 am, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 20852.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
