Ruby Santiny Mitchell, 99 of Grand Isle, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home on January 7th, 2025. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 PM on Saturday, January 18th at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle, Louisiana.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 AM to 12 PM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Cemetery on Grand Isle, LA.
Ruby was one of five children born on August 28th, 1925 to Ovide & Louise Santiny. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Isle, beloved by her family and friends for always being a gracious host with a warm meal waiting and a pot of coffee that could not be refused.
She is survived by her daughters, Roseann Horvath (Ron), and Donna Fisher (Jeff), preceded in death by her son Mike Zubovich (Vicki).
Ruby was also a loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren as well as 3 Godchildren, Leon Bradberry, Kathy Hebert, and Shelly Maples. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Pearl S. Lafont and Sally S. Thompson, and her brothers, Carl Santiny and Clifford Santiny.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church where she was a devout parishioner and a dedicated employee for many years.
