Ruby Ellen Morris, 82, of Carmi passed away at 12:58 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab in Mt. Carmel, IL. She was born on January 17, 1941 in Marion, KY the daughter of Ray Moore and Nanny Geneva (Cullen) Thomas. Ellen married Terry Joe Morris on November 11, 1961 and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2005. She was a hairstylist for 20 years and also managed Razzles for 7 years. Ellen had served as a noon supervisor at Lincoln School. She was a member of the Crossville Church of Christ and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Ellen enjoyed doing crafts along with doing oil painting and needle work.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Ericka (Mick) Mollenhauer of Mt. Carmel; five grandchildren, Alex (Jenny) Webb, Jacob Webb, Zachary Whittler, Jonathan Morris and Joseph Morris; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Morris; two siblings, Sharon Croom of Missouri and Dwight Thomas of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son and daughter-in-law, Terry Joe and Kathy Morris, II.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, especially Ty Trauger, who was like an adopted grandson, for the care they gave Ellen.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Ruby Ellen Morris, 82, of Carmi will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Chapel at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Crossville Church of Christ and and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is in charge of arrangements.
