Ruby Burnett (Benoit) Peshoff, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 100. Born in Gueydan, Louisiana, on April 4, 1924, to Theobert Benoit and Cora Mae Moore Benoit, Ruby was a woman whose heart was as big as her beautiful spirit.
Ruby was known for her warmth, kindness, and playful demeanor, always ready with a smile, a joke, and a listening ear. She was the epitome of love and generosity, opening her home to all who needed it and filling it with warmth, love, and the best coffee around. Her children knew her as the best mom anyone could ask for, and her grandchildren were lucky to call her the greatest grandmother. Ruby's heart was full, and she shared it freely with everyone she met.
As a homemaker, Ruby was an extraordinary seamstress, crafting beautiful clothes, often from patterns she created herself out of newspapers. Her creativity extended to painting and cooking, where her talents shone through. Whether it was a family meal or a special dish, Ruby's cooking was a source of comfort.
Ruby's devotion to her family was matched only by her unwavering faith. She was a dedicated member of both Christ the King and Our Lady Queen of Heaven churches, where she spent many years serving her community. Though Ruby never learned to drive, she never needed to, as she was always accompanied by her devoted husband of 72 years, Gilbert Peshoff, whose love for her knew no bounds.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Conner (Charles), Marilyn Conner, and Darlene Rose; her grandchildren, Richard Conner, Kayla Leger (Tommy), Donald Conner (Brandi), Monique Conner, Daniel Conner (Kelly), Robert Conner (Brandy), Christopher Peshoff, Robert Rose; and her nine great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her son Gary Peshoff, her son-in-law Leonard Conner, and her 11 siblings.
A Funeral Service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
Ruby will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
