A celebration of life honoring Ruby Elaine Rushing will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Bro. Shawn Thrapp and Timothy Roberson. Burial will follow at Hathorn Cemetery, Ashland, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, Louisiana.
Ruby was born on November 15, 1937 in Ashland, LA to Grady and Mary Giddens. She passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025 in Center, TX at the age of 87.
Ruby was a loving, nurturing, God-fearing Mom, Mamaw, Aunt Ruby and friend to everyone. She loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with anyone she came in contact with. And she also loved to shop! Ruby had a love for children, and provided childcare in her home for years and worked in the church nursery. She loved, adored and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her world! She loved cooking for her family and made the most awesome biscuits!
Ruby married the love of her life, Howard E. Rushing on Oct 3, 1952. They were the parents of 1 daughter, Mary E Rutherford and 3 sons, Terry W Rushing (Lisa), Michael R Rushing (Brenda), and Ronnie E Rushing (Bobbi Jo). She was MaMaw to 11 grandchildren: Melanie Hughes (Brad), Meredith Rogers (Kade), Tabitha King (Johnny), Colby Rushing (Jenna), Clinton Rushing (Kellie), Sabra Rushing, Leslie Brunner (Anthony), Lake Auvil, Caitlin Rushing, Alaina Rushing, and Ashlynn Dowell (Christian). She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren: Mason and Brock Hughes (Emma), Kannon and Karson Rogers, Bailee and Jadyn King, Chance and Summer Rushing, Kaelynn, Cohen, and Kenley Rushing, River Auvil, Addison and Emma Brunner and Lylah Dowell. Ruby is also survived by 1 brother, Sammy Giddens (Frances), and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; 1 sister, Linda F. Head and 4 brothers, Billy Ray, W.G., Donald Roy and Jerry Giddens.
Honoring Ruby as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are all of her grandsons and great-grandsons.
We would like to express our deep appreciation to Holiday Nursing and Rehab Center in Center, TX, where she lived for the last 10 months, for their wonderful love and care given to our Mom while living there. She loved you all deeply and loved living there. You were all a part of her family. We would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for being there at the end and the special care you gave.
