Darlene Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on November 13th, 2024, at the age of 69.
Born on May 17, 1955, in Lepanto, Arkansas, Darlene was the daughter of the late Lester Fonzo and Ruby Britt Thompson. She spent her life devoted to family and faith, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Darlene was a loving homemaker, a devoted wife to her husband of 33 years, Roy Smith, and a nurturing mother to her children. She is survived by her sons, Tony Boyd and wife Traci of Little Rock, AR; Shawn Boyd and Taylor Scroggins of Redfield, AR; daughters Kim Starks and Troy Allgood of Lake Village, AR; Tara Boyd and Marcus Bishop of Watson Chapel, AR; Tonya Smith of Hamburg, AR; and Jennifer Ivey and husband Ben of Lake Village, AR. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Heather Clark and husband Manley, Blaze Boyd, Hilton Boyd, Kourtni Riley, Jayden Pruitt, Devin Bishop, Jacob Morgan, Kelsea Morgan, and Ellah Martin, along with her great-grandchildren: Forrest Boyd, Ari Clark, Grayson Clark, Kayson Clark, Lynlei Morgan, and Cooper Morgan.
Darlene was the beloved sister of John Thompson and wife Pamela of Empire, LA; Lester Thompson and wife Laura of Hastings, FL; Jeff Thompson of Jonesboro, AR; and Stephen Thompson. She was also dearly loved by her sister, Brenda Wilson and husband Jeremy of Picayune, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ruby Thompson, and her sister, Marsha Rinch.
Darlene's interests included collecting antiques, gardening, and tending to her flowers-activities that brought her great joy. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren; her family was the center of her world. A member of Northside Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas, Darlene's faith was an integral part of her life, and she cherished the love and support of her church family.
A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at a later date.
Darlene will be remembered for her kindness, love, and devotion to her family. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
