Ruby Stephens 89, of Lake Placid passed away October 6, 2023. She was born on March 4, 1934, to Ed and Becky Rogers (Dansby). She graduated from Hardee High School, Class of 1952. She spent the first 40-plus years in Hardee County before moving to Highlands County circa 1975. Ruby was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. Her family came first in her life and she was best known for her flowers, gardening, and cooking. Among her other loves were her collectibles, painting, and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Becky Rogers (Dansby), her husband, William (Dickie) Stephens, daughter, Cynthia (Sissy) Layton, son, Richard (Ricky) Stephens, brothers, Jessie, Jim ad Walter Rogers, Sisters, Anna Mae Perry, Jane Harrell, and Grace Steele.
Ruby is survived by her son Leon (Bobbi) Stephens of Bowling Green and son Bruce Stephens of Wauchula. 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation of family and friends will be held at 10:00 A.M. on October 13, 2023, at Lake Josephine Baptist Church, 111 Lake Josephine Drive, Sebring, Florida.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. After the service, there will be a graveside service at New Zion Cemetery, Ona, Florida. Memorial contributions (in lieu of flowers) may be made to the New Zion Cemetery maintenance fund, 143 Sidney Roberts Rd, Ona, Florida 33865
