Ruby Faye Tucker, resident of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10 at her daughter's home, surrounded by family, at the age of 93.
Ruby was born Ruby Faye Steelman to her parents, William Hickey and Zettie May Steelman, in 1932 in Holly Springs, Arkansas. She was raised in Eaglette and Bearden, Arkansas, alongside her four brothers and one sister. In 1952, she married Walter Lois Collins Tucker, and together they raised two children, Lucretia and Donnie. Shortly after their daughter's birth, Ruby and Walter moved to Burleson, Texas, where they resided for the rest of their lives.
Ruby is remembered by those who knew her as a devout Christ follower and lover of all people. A dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, she cherished reading her bible, teaching children's Sunday School, and sharing with others the hope she found in Jesus. An expert listener, she treasured hearing other people's stories. Her door was always open, and she was never happier than when her furniture was occupied with visitors. When she wasn't filling your ears with encouraging words, she was filling your stomach with home cooking.
She is survived by her sister, Maxine Szurgot, brother, Ken Steelman, and Ken's wife, Barbara; her children, Lucretia Basham, Donnie Tucker, and Donnie's wife, Sandy; her grandchildren, Amanda Breitling and her husband, Bryan Butler, Mark Basham and his wife, Rachel, Abby Martinez and her husband, Armando, Luke Tucker and his wife, Shelley, and Micah Tucker; and her great-grandchildren Tucker Breitling, Shepard Breitling, Collins Basham, and Campbell Basham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Tucker, and her brothers, Junior, James, Carl, and John Steelman.
