Ruby Ruth Wasden

Ruby Ruth Henderson Wasden – known by most as Ruth and Ruby to just a few – first graced this world on May 20, 1947, in Denison, Texas. Her journey concluded on March 14, 2024, in the same town that witnessed her birth. In the span between those dates, she lived a life rich with experiences-triumphs and setbacks, laughter, and tears.
Ruth, the youngest of twelve children born to Clyde and Nancy Henderson, left an indelible mark. Her story intertwines with that of her beloved husband, Tom. Their fateful encounter occurred while riding down Denison's Main Street, a bustling hub for teenagers at the time. In March 1966, they exchanged vows, embarking on a 56-year adventure that spanned duty stations across the country during Tom's 20-year military career. Their journey eventually led them back to Denison upon his retirement. Ruth worked for the accounting department at Texoma Medical Center for more than 20 years of service. Tom passed away in October, 2022, and Ruth missed him every day.
As a mother, Ruth instilled essential values in her sons, Tim, and Thomas Jr. (known as TJ). Together with their father, she emphasized family bonds, love of country, honesty, and integrity. Ruth's tender spirit and unwavering empathy touched everyone she encountered. She was one of the most gentle, accepting, and loving people that the world will ever know. Christmas held a special place in her heart, and she worked tirelessly to create magical memories for her children and, later, her grandchildren.
In her cherished role as "nana," Ruth introduced her granddaughter, Autumn, to the world of dance, attending countless performances. She also made it a priority to support her grandson, AJ, at his sporting events and band performances.
Ruby Ruth Wasden leaves behind a legacy of love. Survived by her son TJ, son-in-law Joshua of Austin, and son Timothy, she also lives on through her grandchildren, Autumn, and AJ. Her older brother, Jerry Don Henderson, and his wife Gwen, along with sister-in-law Frances and husband Arnold and brother-in-law James and wife Amanda continue to carry her memory forward. Ruby Ruth's impact echoes through the generations, a testament to a life well-lived.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 19 from 5pm-7pm at Fisher Funeral Home, 604 W. Main, Denison, Texas. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, 1pm at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas.
