Rudolph Chu Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home - Millis Chapel on Jan. 14, 2026.
Rudolph Chu passed away on January 8, 2026 in Walpole, Massachusetts after a long active life. He was born in Shanghai, China in 1933. He learned to play tennis with his father and he swam across the Shanghai harbor. Rudy attended the Shanghai Conservatory where he was a piano scales coach until he was sent to the countryside to be re-educated during the Chinese Communist Revolution. He fled via relatives in Hong Kong to join his parents and four siblings in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He had a career working on industrial process instrumentation at the Foxboro Company where he worked for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing tennis at the Charles River Tennis Club in Medway and the Kingswood Tennis Club in Sharon. He loved the outdoors, hiking with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and clearing brush and chopping wood on his land on Village Street in Millis. In recent years he was seen walking daily the loops at Sherman Road and The Residence at Charlesmeadow.

He is survived by his long-term partner, Pam Wilkey, with whom he shared years of trips and meals at Victory Lane, among many other local restaurants. He is survived by his brother David Chu (wife Haing) of Hong Kong, and a niece and nephews in China, Australia and the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Marion (Pang) Chu, his sister Deana Low-Beer (husband Paul), his brother William Chu (wife Waylin), and his sister Julia Yang Chu.
