Rudolph M. Galler and Margarete K. Galler will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on May 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Margarete went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 1, 2023 and Rudolph was reunited with the love of his life on January 19, 2025, just 4 days before their 70th wedding anniversary.

Rudolph Max Galler (Rudy) was born June 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to Max Julius and Gertrude Galler. He attended school in Long Island and joined the Navy at 17 years old in 1950. He began boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, was stationed on an aircraft carrier in Philadelphia, moved to an air station, and commissioned out of New York on another aircraft carrier that was sending troops into the Korean War. Because the war ended, his military service ended two months early in May 1954.

Margarete K. Mauer was born November 25, 1935 in Ottelmannshausen, Germany to Alois and Rosa Mauer. She moved from Germany to New York when she was 17 years old, to work in her aunt's bakery. Her mom had told her to come to America, where she would have a better life. It just so happened that this was Rudy's moms' favorite German bakery. She suggested that he should come meet the young lady, Margarete, that now works there.

As fate would have it, Rudy and Marge were married on January 23, 1955. Together, they raised their four children, Linda, Kathy, Robert and Mike. Rudy's Career spanned over 35 years with Lockheed Aircraft Service (Lockheed Martin) working various Air Force bases from New York, Massachusetts, Arizona, Germany, Louisiana, Arizona, California and Malaysia; returning to Arizona where he retired from working on on F-104 Starfighter jets after 35 years.

Retirement was wonderful for Rudy and Marge. She spent her time crafting, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Mom would make hand towels, blankets and pillows. Dad would paint and embellish the pillows that they would sell at specialty stores. Mom worked at Hickory Farms and then Apollo High School where she loved working and then retired. Rudy and Marge spent their spare time at the German-American Club, going to the casino and dining at Red Lobster. They enjoyed going to the German butcher and making Sunday Dinners for their kids and grandchildren. Oma loved to make German dinners; Rouladen, saurbraten, eierkugen and cabbage rolls. Opa was popular with his grandkids for his Christmas cookies. Every holiday was festive and a time for the family to come together.

Rudy and Marge's love spanned over 70 years, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. After Mom was reunited with her parents and family in Heaven, Dad's love carried him through a few more years. In January 2025, Dad was ready to be with the love of his life again. His work on this earth was done, his accomplishments spanned over 90 years. On January 19, 2025 Mom called Dad home to Heaven, where they would be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with many family members who have gone before to prepare for the guest of honors on January 23, 2025.

Our parents are survived by their 4 children; Linda (William-dec.) Zielinski, Kathleen (Carmelo) Tornambe, Robert (Reba) Galler, and Michael (Tanya) Galler; also by their 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Wir lieben euch Oma und Opa. Families are Forever!
