Rudolph "Ray" Marsolek

Rudolph "Ray" Marsolek, 61, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born on July 2, 1963, Ray was a skilled plumber and a man who found great joy in life's simple pleasures. Whether he was fishing, hunting, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with friends, Ray brought warmth, humor, and genuine connection to every moment.
Of all the roles he cherished in life, none meant more to him than being "Pappy" to Trenton and Leighann. Every moment shared with them, whether on an adventure or simply enjoying each other's company, was a treasured highlight of his life. His love for his daughter, Summer, was equally deep and enduring, and his faithful dogs, Teddy and Loki, were constant companions who brought him joy.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph "Rudy" Marsolek; his mother, Ellen Canon; his brother, George Marsolek; and his beloved dog Teddy.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Summer Breeze; devoted companion, Cindy Slocum; grandchildren, Trenton Gillespie and Leighann Sheffield; stepmother, Wanda Marsolek; stepbrother, Ed Gregory; stepsister, Missy Secrist; honorary family members Tim, Debra, Courtney, Alyssa, and Avery; special friends Sheila Janney, Rhonda Hurley, Joyce and Buck Stanley; his neighborhood friends, and many others whose lives were touched by Ray's kindness and laughter.
A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church (30 Woodlawn Dr., Rocky Mount, VA) on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Eddie Hawks officiating.
