Rudy Bojo Obituary
Born on May 8, 1939 in Luisiana, Laguna, Philippines, Rudy Quebedo Bojo was the true embodiment of drive guided by purpose, and of faith strengthened by love. He was the cherished son of Rafael and Constancia, who instilled in him the values that would carry him throughout his life.
With courage and determination, Rudy sought greater horizons when he tested for, and was accepted into, the U.S. Navy. He began his career humbly as a Steward, but through perseverance, discipline, and faith, he rose through the ranks, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3). Over 27 years of honorable service, Rudy devoted himself wholeheartedly to the U.S. Navy, serving faithfully on both coasts. He served during the Vietnam War era, with assignments stretching from the Philippines, San Diego, Washington DC, Norfolk, and eventually to Virginia Beach. Along the way, he endured multiple 6-month deployments away from his family. He was especially proud of his service aboard the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66), where he earned a stellar reputation for his professionalism and great attention to detail. His hallmarks were service and sacrifice, which he continued to embody even after retiring. His patriotism, resilience, and steadfast work ethic reflected not only his devotion to his country, but also the proud heritage of his Filipino roots.
At the heart of Rudy's life was his unwavering faith. He carried God's love with him always, and lived out his Catholic faith with devotion until his final days. He passed on that faith to his children and grandchildren, a gift that continues to cascade through the generations of the family he created. His deep love for the Blessed Virgin Mary was a source of strength and comfort, and he often prayed for her intercession in challenging times.
Rudy found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments. He loved vacations, road trips, and capturing precious memories in countless photographs with family and friends. In addition, he lovingly cooked and treated family and friends to delicious meals through countless family gatherings, and his dishes always received the highest compliments.
Rudy also gave generously of his time and talents to the community, actively supporting Filipino organizations in the Tidewater area. His leadership as President of the Quezonian of Hampton Roads reflected his commitment to celebrating and preserving culture, heritage, unity, and supporting students in their academic pursuits.
After a long and well-lived journey, Rudy was called peacefully to eternal life on August 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Leticia (Carling), and his brother Ner (Sharon).
He is lovingly remembered by Carmen, his devoted wife of 63 years; his sister Betty (Antero); and his children Tes (Glenn), Joey (Chona), Rainier, and Richard (Rochelle). To them, he was not only a father but also a mentor, counselor, and source of strength and inspiration. He leaves behind thirteen beloved grandchildren, fourteen adorable great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews--each carrying a piece of his love and legacy.
Rudy will forever be remembered for his generous heart, his warm and welcoming spirit, and his steadfast love for God and his family. To know him was to be blessed by his kindness and wisdom. Though he has gone from our sight, his memory and his impact will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." 1 Thessalonians 4:14
Eternal rest grant unto Rudy's soul, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace. AMEN
