Rufus Filmore Sr.

Life and death are both in God's hand. He is the author of our birth and the one who determines the time of our death. God does not leave us in our sorrow forever. He promised us joy even in the midst of pain. To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven. Rufus Filmore, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2025.

Rufus Filmore, Sr. was born on November 13, 1957 in Summerton, South Carolina to the late Judy Grace. He attended the public schools of St. Lucie County and obtained his GED from Indian River Community College. Rufus also attended Bethune Cookman and Barry University. He was gainfully employed with St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department and St. Lucie Public Schools. Rufus attended Apostolic Temple International Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul Dean.

Left to cherish his memories are his precious wife: Shirley Filmore; children: Rufus Filmore, Jr., Leional Wesley, Brian Filmore, and Latonya Wood; stepchildren: Alice Ward, Priscilla Thompson, Amanda Ward, Sheneka Davis, Frederick Ward, Anthony Lloyd; brother and sister-in-law: Alfonzia and Robinette Filmore; grandchildren: Kayloni Wood, Keanu Wood, Jeremiah Iles, Gloria Iles, Jasmine Filmore, Elisabeth McCollum, Kalysta McCollum; nieces and nephews: Rachel Filmore, Jordan Filmore, Isaina Filmore, Sariyla Filmore; and a host of step grandchildren, cousin, other relatives, and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
