Ruie Morris

79, of West Alexandria, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 30, 2025.

He was born March 2, 1946, in Bonnyman, Kentucky, to the late Keen and Ruby (Feltner) Morris.

In addition to his parents, Ruie was preceded in death by his siblings, Rufus Morris, Russell Morris, Ray Morris, Buster Morris, Carl Hurt, and Emma Elliott; and grandson, Elijah Morris.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elaine (Sandlin) Morris; daughter, Tessa Morris; son, Derek (Aleasha) Morris; granddaughters, Kirsten Alexander and Rylee Morris; and sister, Rufenia Frost.

Ruie lived a life rich in passion, purpose, and personality. A proud and lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, Ruie could be found every basketball season donning blue and white, yelling at the refs (from his recliner, of course), and celebrating every buzzer-beater like a championship.

When he wasn't courtside, in spirit, if not in person, Ruie found peace on the water with a fishing pole in hand. He was a master of Crappie fishing, spending countless early mornings at Hueston Woods, Brookville Lake, and on serene waters in Kentucky. His tackle box was legendary, his patience admirable, and his stories? Always just a little bigger than the last catch.

But nothing lit up Ruie's face like the glint of polished chrome. His pride and joy, a 1966 Mustang Fastback, wasn't just a car, it was a part of him. Painstakingly restored and lovingly maintained, it turned heads at every car show and sparked conversations with strangers who quickly became friends. Ruie loved to talk cars, but more than that, he loved sharing something he cherished.
