Russel (Russ), age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 6, 2025, at his home in Big Cabin, Oklahoma. He was born on October 3, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa, to Orvetta Saltmarsh. Russ was one of four children. He was a 1971 graduate of Oakland High School in Oakland, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Texas of Arlington in December of 1990. He married Linda Shurtleff on July 5, 1980, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Russel (Russ) and Linda have two boys, Eric (Beki) Saltmarsh and Ryan (Shante) Saltmarsh. If you ask anyone who knew Russel (Russ), he had a wonderful knack for solving problems and had great words of wisdom for anyone that he willingly shared. He was always there when someone needed him without even asking. Russel (Russ) truly loved life to the fullest and was able to reach people in a deep and positive way.
Russel (Russ) was known as an avid cattleman who never had a dull story to tell and always appreciated a good joke. He loved all seven of his grandchildren, and we cannot forget his and Linda’s four furbabies that he loved to the fullest. For anyone who knew Russel (Russ), they are welcome to attend his Celebration of Life to be held at Luginbuel Funeral Home, 332 North Scrapper Street, Vinita, Oklahoma, on June 13, 2025, at 11:00 am.
