Deacon Russell Leroy Clavon was born on August 29,1952 in Lynchburg,
South Carolina. He was the son of the late Jake and Icy Mae Davis Clavon.
Sunset in Deacon Clavon's life came on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his
home after a long illness. Deacon Clavon was preceded in death by four
brothers and four sisters.
Deacon Clavon was educated in the public schools of Lee County. He was
employed with the City of Florence as a Water Plant Operator and retired
after working there for 32 years. Since retirement, he enjoyed entertaining
family, gardening, fishing, watching baseball and singing. He was a member of
Judea Church, where he served as a deacon and sung on the senior choir. He
served his country in the US Army in 1972 and was honorably discharged in
1974. He also served in the Army Reserves. He attended Denmark Technical
College in Denmark, South Carolina. Deacon Clavon was family oriented,
dedicated and loving. He never met a stranger that didn't enjoyed his funny
and impressionable personality. He was loved by all and will be terribly missed.
Left to cherish precious memories is his wife of 47 years Gwendell Pee
Clavon, his four daughters, Arnetrial Clavon, Tameka Clavon, Monica (Twain)
Stafford, Sytwesha (Murray) Washington, a "special" son Terry Nettles, Six
grandchildren: J'Nya Clavon, Kainan Jenkins, Kierra Clavon-Moore, Alexia
(Matthew) Webb, Quavondria Richardson, Amiya Washington, one great
grandchild-Khylee Williams, Three sisters-Eloise Fleming, Edna (Ashley)
Toney, Cynthia (Willie) Green; three sister in-laws, five brother in-laws, a
host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Please keep the Clavon family in your thought and prayers during their time of bereavement.
