Helen Hettich Obituary

In Loving Memory of Helen E (Betty) Hettich

May 1, 1955 – November 23, 2025

Helen "Betty" Hettich. 70, passed away on November 23, 2025, after a decade long battle with Alzheimer's dementia. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hettich, her husband of 47 years, David "Stan" Hettich, her brother Basil and his wife Joni Pinker and her brother John Pinker III. She is preceded in death by her daughter Alison (Hettich) Wray and her parents, John and Mary Pinker.

Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Betty graduated from William and Mary in 1978 with a bachelor's degree and then served on active duty in the US Navy with tours in Adak, AK and San Diego, CA. After separating from active duty, Betty remained in the Navy reserves achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Betty was a talented artist and jeweler throughout her life.

As a Christian, Betty (and our family) has a deep faith in the truth of John 11:25-26 "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'

Betty requested that there be only a quiet farewell, with no formal ceremony – a request we are honoring. Again, based on her request, there will be no fanfare or military honors when she is buried at the Tacoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. To honor her memory, the family asks that any contributions be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Washington State.
