Russell Gatson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Dec. 18, 2024.
Russell Joseph Gatson was born March 27, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Richmond and Viola Gatson. From a young age, Russell developed a love for music, particularly the saxophone, and enjoyed playing sports. His fondest memories included spending quality time with his father, Richmond.
As a young man, Russell faced and overcame challenges, emerging as a fearless, charismatic, deeply spiritual individual. His faith in God was unwavering; he often referred to his Heavenly Father as "My Jesus." His wisdom extended beyond worldly knowledge, rooted in a deep understanding of the Gospel. Many knew him affectionately as "Gat" or "Breakfast," a testament to his warm and respected character.
Russell's passion extended beyond faith and family. He was a master chef, known for his perfectly grilled tomahawk steaks. Cooking, especially while dancing with his fiancée, Onrea, was a regular routine. His love for life was evident in his everyday attire, frequently showcasing his favorite color, burgundy. He also had a talent for pool, playing effortlessly and passionately.
