Celebrating the Life of Russell (Russ) F. Jones

On November 26, 1948, in Waltham MA, Russell Jones came into the world as the son of Rita Keough and Charles Jones. He grew up in Louisville KY and after graduating college at Western Kentucky University with a degree in elementary education, he moved to Indianapolis IN where he began his teaching career. He later went on to obtain his Masters Degree.

From the very beginning, he was known for his love for trivia, sports and was a big music and movie buff. He was easy going, good humored, and would share a conversation with just about anyone.

On October 10, 2025, he left this world doing what he loved - relaxing, reading, laughing, and talking with friends and family. He was much looking forward to his winter past time of going to Hockey games with Allison, who was his pride and joy.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters (who died as infants).

For his career, Russell was a schoolteacher by education. He later worked for Conrail and finished his working career with Ameritech/SBC Communications where he retired in 2010.

Russell is survived by his wife, Debbie (Robbins), his daughter, Allison, his sister in-laws and many nieces and nephews who he was very close to. He enjoyed spending time with all of them and showed them kindness, and a love that will never be forgotten.

An informal visitation will be at Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 22 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, where family and friends can gather to share memories and stories of Russell.

Please come as you are and wear your favorite sports hat, t-shirt or jersey in the fashion of Russell.
