Russell Hayden "Russ" Mudd

Russell Hayden "Russ" Mudd, age 77 of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 25, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Reverend Walter and Dora L. (Johnson) Mudd. Russ retired from Ford Motor Company after over 30 years of faithful service. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #2173 and Masonic Lodge #496 in Shrewsbury, Kentucky. He formed "Mudd Brothers Racing" where he was known for drag racing nationwide. He campaigned for TA-FC from 1997 until 2016. Drag racing and spending time in his shop with his son, Jason, were very special to Russ. He was a quiet, soft-spoken man of few words but the words he did speak were definitely worth listening to. Russ was a hard worker with strong work ethics. He was very loving, caring and willing to help anyone who needed him. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Hayden Mudd; sister, Doris Ann Mudd and brother, Herman Mudd.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 37 years, Brenda (O'Bryan) Mudd where they spent a total of over 40 years together; son, Russell "Jason" Mudd (Stephanie); grandchildren, Breonna Curtis (Brian), Mykala Biggs (Darein), Tara Fulner (David); Adina Mudd and Cameron Mudd (Kayley); great-grandchildren, Nolin, Natalie, Jaxon, Gunnar and Tatum "on the way"; sister, Gail Mercer (Kenny); sister-in-law, Donna Mudd; nieces, Dana Wolf and Tara Gittings (Scott); fur-baby, Pebbles "Girl", and a host of nieces nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:00 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 and on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
