Russell Arthur Oney Jr., known to all as Russ, went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born on January 20, 1958, Russ was the son of the late Russell Arthur Oney Sr. and Barbara Headrick Oney.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Oney; his children, Colleen Bourne (Eric), Amanda Taylor (David), Abby Oney, and Joseph Oney (Whitney); and his grandchildren, Evan Bourne, Whitaker Bourne, and Finn Bourne. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy Nobles (Dave), Ann Reeves, and Michael Oney (Sharon).

Russ worked faithfully for 27 years at Dunlop Tire & Rubber before building a career as a general contractor for 10 years. He later served in children's ministry for 11 years, where his heart for God's word and love for others shone brightly. He was also active in prison ministry, sharing the hope of Christ with those who needed it most.

Russ enjoyed the fellowship of riding his Harley with friends and, in more recent years, treasured his daily walks with his dog, Jack, at Orr Park. There, he greeted everyone he met, offering a smile, a kind word, and often a reminder of God's goodness. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he shared it joyfully with all.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:00 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home, 2521 Hwy 31, Calera, AL 35040.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in honor of his memory to Gideon's International or a ministry of your choice.

Every time I saw Russ, he always shared some revelation of God´s Word that he had received with me...what a blessing! I rejoice that He´s with our Lord and Savior. But he will be missed. Praying Phil. 4:7 over Susan and the family, and surrounding them with His faith and Love.
