Russell “Rusty” Poling, 70, of Augusta, IL, passed away at 2:07 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Born on October 24, 1954, in Abilene, TX, Rusty was the beloved son of Russell and Vera Poling. He was united in marriage to Rebecca “Becky” Zeisler on October 3, 1998, in Augusta, IL, where they shared a life full of love and companionship.
A 1972 graduate of Southeastern High School in Augusta, IL, Rusty was known for his love of the outdoors, his talent for woodworking, and appreciation for classic country music. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with his beloved wife, Becky, and his many friends. A skilled craftsman and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him, Rusty was always willing to lend a hand.
Along with his wife, Becky, Rusty is survived by his stepdaughter, Valerie Brown, and his beloved grandchildren: Heather (Brett) Moore of La Harpe, IL, Sabrina (William) Griffin of Waynesville, MO, and Hailey (Jaylen) Hill of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Avery, Graydon, Hynlie, and Linkin Moore; Eli and Emma Griffin; and Hendrix Hill, each of whom brought him great happiness. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Joyce (Aaron) Miller, and their two daughters, Jessica (Dustin) Foster, along with their two daughters, and Megan (Sean) Dickerson, along with their two sons.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved stepchildren, Stephanie and Jeffrey Atkinson.
A private burial service will be held at a later time. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to those who have supported them during this time of loss.
