Russell Porath Obituary

He was born on November 13, 1949, in Cooperstown, NY, the son of Clarence and Sarah Edith Dillenbeck Porath.
Russell attended Middleville High School.
Most recently, he worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Amsterdam, NY, until his retirement. While he was younger, he had worked on a dairy farm.
He lived his entire life in the local area. He was very proud of accomplishing 27 years sober, but still enjoyed smoking cigarettes, eating out (while putting horseradish on everything he could, which he grew himself), and showing off his tattoos, drinking Mt. Dew, coffee, feeding birds and other wild animals, doing geology, and riding around Middlefield. He was also a proud member of the Liberty Foundation Board.
He was predeceased in death by his parents and all his siblings.
He is survived by many friends from AA and Liberty.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
His cremated remains will be interred with his parents at Middlefield Cemetery.

Butch was and still is my uncle my most favorite memory with my uncle is when I was about five years old my parents had a picture done of me with my curly hair sitting on uncle butches lap he wore a black cowboy hat I don't have that picture anymore but I will miss him forever
