Russell Dewitt Reader (Rusty)
9/05/1959 - 10/27/2023
Rusty Reader was born to Bobbie Jo Reader (Park) and Darrell Eugene Reader. Rusty was born on the Lathem Ranch in Debeque, Colorado in a bunkhouse where Darrell had been working. He was named Russell after Russell Lathem, a man who he respected very much and was working for at that time. Darrell’s work took on many excursions around the country. He talked of living on Prince Edward isle, and “south park” Fairplay co. He had many memories of his childhood growing up with his sisters and cousins and talked of them often. Rusty married Christine Reader (Collins) in 1985. They had 3 children, Bobby Jo Reader 1985, Russell Shane Reader 1987, and Trista Renee Reader 5/14/1988 - 8/6/1988 who passed away of SIDS. Rusty followed in his fathers footsteps and became a welder traveling and building goldmines until he moved home (Colorado) to raise his Boys. Rusty’s Boys and grand kids were his world. He taught his boys how to survive, fishing and hunting and living off the land, and they also love rock hunting. He was Pam-paw to Annikya Wight, Grandpa to Trista Lynn Reader 2007 and Randall Joseph Reader 2009, Grandpa to Alexzander Fein - Reader, 2008 and finally Grandpa - Friend to Russell Phillip Reader, and many more who he loved and called his. Rusty lived in Spearfish, S.D. Where Russell Shane and Ashley Reader and the kids reside for a few years until his health declined and came home to receive the medical help provided by the V.A. in Grand junction, co. Rusty served in the military briefly in the 70’s and would every Veterans day go to the V.F.W. for a Beer and would support his Daughter in law Jamie Reader giving Free haircuts to the veterans. Rusty and Christine separated many years ago but still remained good friend. Military Services will be held on December 14th 2023 @ 1:00pm at the veterans Cemetary in Grand Junction, co. We will be holding a Life Celebration at a later date when it’s warmer. It will be held at Harvey Gap in Silt, co…..Rusty’s Favorite Place for many years….. Home away from home
