Russell “Rusty” E. Burton Jr, 72, of Gulfport, MS passed away on July 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 1950 to Russ & Claire Burton Sr. in Princeton, IN. He is preceded in death by his father, Russ Burton Sr.
Rusty grew up in Princeton, IN and graduated from Princeton High School in 1968 where he played in the band. After graduation he then joined the United States Navy and served for four years and is a Vietnam Veteran. After the Navy he then moved back to Indiana for a short period and then down to Louisiana. Rusty got a job for Florida Gas Transmission Company and worked with them throughout the Gulf Coast and Florida for 43 years. Rusty was a Mason and Shriner, and a Past Master of Baker Lodge #441 in Baker, Louisiana.
Rusty enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and going camping with his family. He never met a stranger and was a jovial and charismatic individual. Rusty’s family and friends were everything to him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rusty is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jimmy Burton; son, Donny (Sherri) Burton; daughter, Judy (Derrick) Miller; mother, Claire Burton; grandchildren, Blaine Miller, Aaron Miller, and Tyler Burton; brother, Raymond (Tina) Burton; and sister, Janet Johnson. Rusty also leaves behind to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Visitation with a Masonic Service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Reimann Funeral Home Gulfport Chapel (11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS). Another Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Colvin Funeral Home (425 N. Main St, Princeton, IN) with Graveside Services with Military Honors at 11:30 am at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, IN.

Rusty was one of my papa´s very good friends. I grew up knowing he was family as were so many Shriners that had such a huge impact in my life.
