Rex David Young, Sr, born on March 23, 1948, in Vincennes, IN to Walter and Clair Young, passed away on March 3, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda Bartley Young, whom he married in 1975, his daughter Judy (Kenny) Cox, his son David (Karlene) Young; grandchildren Brittany (Doug) Raley, Michael Ridge, Cydnee Witsman, Emily Witsman, Kenzie Cox, and Whitney Cox; great-grandchildren Mariah Ridge, Miley Ridge, Mia Ridge, Braxton Ridge, Eastyn Ridge, and Emilia Hislip; 9 step great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Patton, brother-in-law Rex (Margie) Bartley, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Those who have passed before Rex include his parents Walter and Clair Young, a brother Larry Young, sisters Judy Quarterman, Karen Cox, and Rhonda Smith, brother-in-law William Bartley, 2 nephews, and 1 niece.
Rex graduated from Princeton High School in 1966 and served in the US Army. He had a career as a lineman for Miller Construction until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed junking and setting up at the Covered Bridge Festival with his wife and sister. He also loved being outside and mushroom hunting. However, the thing he loved most was being with his family and all his grandkids. Rex will be deeply missed by his family.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday March 7, 2026, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN from 11-1 with a funeral service at 1. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Rex and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family will welcome donations for assistance in covering Rex's final expenses.
