Lyndon – Russell "Corky" Swanson, 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on March 17, 1933, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Dillard) Swanson.

Russell grew up near Melvern and had lived in Lyndon since 1962.

Russell served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954, receiving the Korean, United Nations and National Defense Service Medals. He worked most of his life as a painter, working for Santa Fe in Emporia, Ft. Leavenworth and the VA Hospital in Topeka. He had also worked for Osage County in maintenance. Russell was a member of the Euclid Lodge #101 A.F.&A.M. and the American Legion Post #125, both of Lyndon. He had served on the District Rural Water Board and the Lyndon Cemetery Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

In November of 1974, Russell married Geneva Roberts in Ottawa.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Libby; by his brother, Larry Swanson; by his sister, Opal Killion; and by a great-grandson, Layne Clark.

Russell is survived by his wife, Geneva of over 51 years; his two sons, Jerrold Swanson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Steve (Annie) Swanson of Topeka; by his two daughters, Sandra (Jeff) Clark of Alma and Regina Roberts of Lyndon; by his sister, Corrine Tumberlen of Ottawa; his twelve grandchildren, A.J. (Kristin) Swanson, Abby (Malcolm) Mikkelsen, BriAnna (Andru) Tovi, Emily (Joban) Mendpara, Bryan Rigsby, Cody (Hannah) Rigsby, Tanner (Taylor) Clark, Logan (Carly) Clark, Amanda (Logan) Clark, Joshua (Jessica) Clark, Lona (Mike) Mullins and Jim Adams; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ella, Scarlett, Gavin, Quinton, Max, Brayden, Callen, Braison, Kaesyn, Kyler, Kinlee, Mackinzee and Ricki; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Russell will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 14, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial with military honors will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Russell may be made to Midland Hospice Care or Lyndon American Legion Post #125, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
