Russell D. Weddington, age 87 of Farmville, Virginia, passed away February 1 st , 2025.

He was born on March 2nd, 1937 in Canada, Kentucky to the late Crit and Ella Weddington. He

is survived by his daughters Susan Young and Lois (Doug) Miller. He is also survived by

grandchildren: Alex Young, Brianna (Matt) Cline, Alicia Young, Reina Wood, Josh (Katie) Miller,

Rusty (Brittany) Miller and Marshall (Elizabeth) Miller. Great Grandchildren: Kennedy Cline,

Kinsley Cline, Elsie Miller, Teddy Miller, Marley Miller and Raylan Miller. Russell was also

survived by his sisters Fay Blackburn, Mable Kitchen, Phyllis Music and Sue (Ric) Kupchunas.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Janet Weddington, daughter Nancy Jennings, grandson

Ryan Ragland, sisters Gladys Runyon, Lorene Nunley, Ernestine Varney, Edith Weddington,

Kaye (Gaye) Gutowski and brothers Buddy Weddington and Sam Weddington.

Russell was a Navy veteran, with 20 years of service as a hull technician. He loved being a

sailor and serving in the military. After retirement, he found farming to be a real enjoyment. He

was an active member at Concord Baptist church in Farmville, Virginia. He served as District

Deputy Grand Master of Farmville 41 st Masonic Lodge. He was a part of the Masons for over 60

years.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3 rd , 2025 from 6-8pm at Puckett Funeral Home,

Farmville, Virginia. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4 th , 2025 at 1pm followed

by a graveside service.
