In Loving Memory: Russell Wu
Russell Alex Wu, 81, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted Chicago sports fan, passed away peacefully at his home in South Barrington, Illinois, on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Born in Shanghai and raised in Taiwan, Russell was lovingly cared for by his parents, Ginsy and TC Wu. He came to the U.S. after pursuing his MBA from University of Toronto.
An entrepreneur with an energetic spirit, Russell established a successful career in the International Logistics industry. Always a dedicated provider for his family, he carried his business acumen into diverse ventures, including owning a successful karaoke bar and buffet-a business perfectly suited to his lively personality.
Russell fully retired in 2020 after surviving a severe stroke. He was a true fighter, battling the challenges of debilitation and dementia for five years following his initial health setback with courage and resilience.
To know Russell was to know an entertainer. Referred to as "The Chinese Cowboy" by his neighbors, he was a natural comedian who wore his heart on his sleeve. He lived to cook, grill, eat, and be merry. His great love for karaoke led him to channel legendary performers like Elvis and Johnny Horton, and Tung An Ge.
Russell was also an ardent sports enthusiast who never missed a game, passionately rooting for his beloved Chicago sports teams. When he wasn't watching a game, he loved to be on the links, often found golfing. True to his generous spirit, Russell consistently gave back to charity and was dedicated to sharing opportunities with those around him.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Jade; his son, Grant, and daughter, Ranee; son in law, Greg, ; his grandson, Cole; and his sisters, Wendy and Winnie.

Visitation will be Sunday from 10:30 AM until the service of remembrance at Noon at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Interment Private.
