Russell "Rusty" Wayne Field, 65, passed away at Diversicare-Hutchinson on November 17, 2025, following a 17-year battle with Polymyositis. He was born on September 6, 1960, in Hutchinson to Gene and Velma (Achilles) Field.

Rusty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1979 and attended one year at Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a machinist and a maintenance employee at multiply locations in Hutchinson. Rusty was an avid sports fan with a deep loyalty to the KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. Working out and lifting weights were a pastime passion for him. Another huge love was Rock and Roll music with the band KISS as his all time favorite. Rusty placed fine dining high on his list of personal pleasures. His 2024 trip to Maui with friends David, Janice and Sally provided the opportunity to enjoy an abundance of culinary delights that he would never forget. And in Las Vegas in May 2025, Rusty not only escorted his daughter, Ash, in her wedding but also was able to indulge in a variety of tasty cuisines.

Rusty became a Christian. His faith in God served him well throughout his valiant battle with his disease.

He is survived by his: children, Bryce Field (Shantel), Hutchinson, Andy Field, Wichita, Ash Wedel (Jordan) and Katie Field, Noble, Oklahoma, Jess Field, Wichita and stepson Raymond Barry (Tiffani) Hutchinson; siblings, Terry Field (Debbie) Hutchinson and Stacy Lee (Bob) St. Louis; step-sister, Yvette Korb (Steve), Lenexa; brother-in-law, Jerry Carnes, Hutchinson; 4 grandchildren, Orion, Lincoln, Addy and Link; 2 step grandchildren; nephew, Cory Field; niece, Kelsi Rietcheck (Cody); 2 great nieces; and longtime best friend, David Allen.

Rusty was preceded in death by his: parents; sister, Paula Carnes; and stepmom, Helen Field.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Rusty Field Memorial Fund in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501. To benefit the memorial fund, please make checks payable to Elliott Mortuary.
