Ruth Amiel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Platt Memorial Chapels, Inc. - Cherry Hill on Nov. 29, 2025.
We mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Ruth Resnicow Amiel, a true renaissance woman who was not measured by age or time. She effortlessly explored and stretched the boundaries of her creativity. Adoring wife of 63 years to Norman, mother to Barbara, Allison, and Steven. Ruth celebrated her 98th birthday in October.

She was beloved by her six grandchildren Rachel, Stacey, Justin, Alex, Jacob, and Travis, as well as three great-grandchildren Emily, Noah, and Poppy.

A proud Brooklynite from Borough Park, Ruth studied at Cooper Union and during WWII worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as a drafter.

A life-long artist and teacher, Ruth moved through mediums: painting, photography, Japanese embroidery, shiatsu, and at the age of 80, she learned digital art. She co-wrote a book on constructing clothing called *Finally it Fits* published in 1973. For years she traveled to Japan to study with Iwao Saito.

Ruth delighted in hosting gatherings, traveling the world, showing people different ways to see the world, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and telling stories. All who met her were charmed by her warm, positive disposition and clever wit. Her artworks, appreciation for beauty, and joy will be greatly missed.

True to form, we will sign her obituary as she signed her emails.

Love Ruth,

Mom, Gram, In Law, Outlaw
